69 AMC AMX Parts Wanted

The Search

The search for parts is a constant battle to find working parts, OEM replacement parts or aftermarket parts to either get your car running or as a backup.  We were fortunate enough to have a complete car with no major or minor parts missing.   This doesn't mean most of the parts are old in need of repair.  It means we have either an original part or replacement.

I remember back in high school visiting two or three boneyards with my grandfather looking for a door and window for my 69 Javelin SST.   The window guides were completely worn out and the window would literally fall out while I was driving.    This was a bit of a problem during rainy season so we started hunting.   This was around 1983 so my 69 was only 14 years old.   That sounds weird saying it out loud because my 69 AMX turned 47 this year and is in far better shape.   Totally weird but it puts the age of the vehicle in perspective.    We found a door with the window intact for $40 back then and had it installed for $100.   At the time, I didn't have tools and my Grandfathers faith in my automobile knowledge wasn't high so we had a favorite shop.
